About Philologica Jassyensia

It offers the opportunity of establishing an intercultural academic dialogue among the Romanian specialists (from Romania and from abroad) and the foreign scholars concerned with research in Romance languages, especially in Romanian linguistics, literature, ethnology – Romanian culture as a whole.

The journal underlines the place of Romanian philological research in the European context and equally hosts the results of foreign academic research in the area of Romanian studies by colleagues from Europe, the USA, Canada etc, which is necessary for synchronizing the philological and cultural activity carried on by specialists in Romanian studies from all over the world.

The authors of the articles published in this journal are university professors and researchers who have specialized in the area of philological national and international studies. The Academic Committee of the journal is formed of outstanding Romanian and foreign personalities. “Philologica Jassyensia” fills a gap concerning specialized publications as it establishes a balance between two vectors: the need to promote Romanian research abroad and the necessity that the Romanian scholars should have the opportunity of reading the results of the studies written by their foreign colleagues regarding Romanian culture both on its structural level and on its relationships with other cultural areas.

The articles that have been published in “Philologica Jassyensia” since 2005 correspond to the objectives established by the editorial staff. The intercultural dialogue offers the opportunity of (re)discovering the spiritual values of the Romanian and universal heritage.

Apart from the core articles, the journal includes two “thematic files”, as well as a section of book reviews. The thematic files are Romanian Studies Abroad – A State of Affairs and Plurilingualism – Between Ambition and Reality. These two thematic files alternate. The texts in the Romanian Studies Abroad – A State of Affairs thematic file are a true-to-life presentation of the situation of Romanian philology taught in European universities. This “file” is meant to evidence the problems encountered by those who want to study Romanian abroad; it becomes a real and helpful “database” for promoting the Romanian ethnocultural patrimony on the European level. The second thematic file – Plurilingualism – Between Ambition and Reality, offers a very vivid debate that includes more and more social actors.

The book reviews focus on editorial news in the areas of Romanian and European philology and cultural studies, thus contributing to the circulation of information in the academic milieu.

The contributions are written in one of the following languages: English, Italian, German, Spanish, French or Romanian. Each core article is accompanied by the title, abstract and keywords in English and by key-words in English. The foreign language version must be correct to be published; otherwise it may be rejected.

The articles and reviews will be sent to jassyensia@gmail.com.

Deadline for receiving articles and reviews:
– for issue 1: 10th January
– for issue 2: 1st September

Readers have internet open access to the core articles and to the book reviews.

Publication of articles/reviews comes with no fee.
